FAQs
Yes, we sell rugs and carpets to the general public, corporate businesses and small businesses/sole traders
Our service provides customers with the cheapest method to have their rugs and carpets handmade and delivered straight to their door. We achieve this by cutting out the retail ‘middle man’ and other franchised alternatives cost layer, which allows more customers to access high-end quality pieces for their home or workplace without the expensive retail and showroom overheads.
Simply, we manage the entire end-to-end process – you find the exact rug or carpet design, size and specifications you want, including the fibre you’re after (e.g. wool, cotton or silk), send us its image and your best retail quote to purchase and we’ll beat it, it’s that easy!
Once your deposit is paid, we’ll send you a CAD render and photo of the actual fibre colour swabs for your approval, where we can tweak and optimise colour choice to suit. Once you approve, we manage the manufacturing process offshore with our partner in Jaipur India and provide you with real time image/video updates, so you get to see firsthand your floor or wall tapestry piece being made. And when ready for shipping, we organise delivery to your front door.
As all our pieces are individually handcrafted, and sometimes take two to six months to complete, we keep you informed of your expected delivery date.
No, unfortunately we don’t provide design services but will take your design and happily make it for you. Customers are responsible for moving their delivered item from the front of their property indoors.
This is up to the customer, though typically Persian style with the Senneh knot. This hand knotting technique is found in only top quality, handmade pieces that last for decades when well cared for. We also manufacture Turkish style rugs and carpets, though for the discerning customer, we recommend Persian and either in wool or silk depending on room choice.
Our handmade rug options are extensive, covering a wide array of materials and weaving styles to suit any preference. For materials, previous customers have chosen natural fibres like pure wool, premium New Zealand wool, luxurious mohair and Angora wool, and shimmering silk and bamboo silk. We also have manufactured durable options for customers such as Rayon Viscose (artificial silk), versatile cotton, linen, and polyester, and a range of natural grasses including seagrass, coir, sisal, and jute.
When it comes to weaving styles, our artisans master techniques like hand-tufting, hand-knotting, hand-looming, and flatweave (Dhurries). We also create specialised textures with Jacquard, shag pile, hand carving, edge chamfering, and loop cutting, and can incorporate sophisticated finishes such as colour gradation and silk/Art Silk accents to bring your vision to life.
Persian-style rugs primarily use two types of knots: the Persian (Senneh) knot and the Turkish (Ghiordes) knot.
Like any handmade rug bought in a retail showroom, very often it has to be made and different knot counts take varying amounts of time given the labour component for hand-knotted rugs – for example a recent 5m x 6m rug took circa eight weeks to complete though a more complex rug of the same size took five months. Delivery is then scheduled via sea cargo and typically takes a further 6-8 weeks to arrive once the rug/carpet arrives to the port in India.
Our approach allows customers direct access to ensure their budget goes further, either saving money or using their budget towards larger rugs or upgraded hand knot counts for even higher quality outcomes. We pride ourselves on beating retailer and other online offerings being a fraction of the price!
Our approach to customers achieving success is simple:
We recommend customers purchase an anti-slip product as these not only provide safe use avoiding slips and falls, but they also extend the rug or carpet’s life. Moreso, they ensure the rug/carpet remains flat on the ground, keeping creases and lumps out of your piece! We’ve found some customers even use furniture legs to help secure in place too.
No, our quotes include the total price with GST (and required deposit amount) and nothing further is to be paid.
Once a customer’s rug, carpet, tapestry or other homeware textile manufacturing begins, deposits are non-refundable. In the case the cancellation is made in between quote acceptance and prior to manufacturing then an apportioned refund of a customer’s deposit will be returned with the balance retained to cover our manufacturer’s preparation costs incurred to that point.
Given the nature of our handmade pieces from India, returns are not offered.
We will work with customers to resolve this case-by-case.
Bank transfer via EFT only.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide finance. Payments due are facilitated as per the terms of customer quotations and our terms of trade.
Authentic handmade rugs are distinguished by their subtle imperfections in the weave, a pliable backing that reveals the design, and natural variations in the fringe or edges.
To guarantee authenticity, our rugs are produced certified from Intertek, Oeko Tex Standard 100, Goodweave and others, to collectively ensure authenticity by verifying product quality, safety from harmful chemicals, and ethical production free from child, forced, and bonded labour.
Yes, receipts are provided for both the deposit and final balance payments made by customers.
To ensure your rug arrives in perfect condition, we securely package it, either rolled or folded depending on its size and type, using protective materials to prevent damage during transit.
Yes, absolutely. This stage in the process is critical to align with our customers requirements. We don’t commence creating a rug, tapestry or textile piece until the digital CAD image and thread colour samples have been approved in writing, even if it takes a few revisions to finalise the lowest level of detail.
Our philosophy is “do it once, do it right!” and we take as much time as required to support our customers and their projects.
Machine-made rugs are mass-produced on automated looms, offering a faster, more affordable option, though they may lack the intricate detail and longevity of their hand-knotted counterparts. In contrast, hand-knotted rugs and tapestries are unique, durable pieces made by skilled artisans tying individual knots.
To preserve your wool or bamboo silk rug’s delicate fibers and vibrant colors, avoid DIY deep cleaning, harsh chemicals, beater bar vacuums, hot water, rubbing, overwetting, direct sun drying, and ironing; instead, opt for professional cleaning every one to two years and blot stains with cold water. Contact us for more information if you have any questions.
Unfortunately, we do not offer these services. We deliver to the front (or delivery dock) of a customer’s property only where customers are then required to move the packaged item(s) inside in their own time and manner.
Quicker delivery is an option for time-critical operators open to similar designs through select pre-made manufacturer stock. This avoids lengthy handknotting timelines and we can ship immediately.
Wholesale prices still retain profit margin though sold cheaper than retail pricing. Our prices are cheaper than wholesale prices, saving you even more money.
Yes, volume discounts are available for select customers with higher levels of demand or who are regular purchasers.
